New chairman letter
Dear friends,
As you maybe aware we have had numerous changes to our committee with many familiar faces deciding to move on or just step down. As a club we thank them all for all their hard work and commitment over the many years including steering us through the challenging times of Covid, they have put enormous time and effort into this amazing club.
Our new committee is ready and raring to go and I am excited to be working with them all sharing the passion in taking Broadstone into a new and exciting era, including the rebirth of our men’s team, #upthestones.
I am the new Chairman and have been at the club since 2011, answering to an add on Gumtree when we looked to start a new men’s side, I played very few games and only one season, as I quickly discovered I coach much better than I could ever play.
The second season I retired from playing and started my coaching career with the men’s reserves, moving onto the first team and coached at youth level from U14’s onwards, where I still currently coach the U16’s.
Broadstone FC is one of the premier clubs in the south and has always been a “football for all club” and long may that continue, judging our success on not only teaching fitness and how to play football but life skills such as teamwork, tolerance, how to encourage others, hoping to help them become better young men and woman. This being a real legacy that we are all proud off.
My vision for the club is to at first maintain our long tradition in being a very friendly and amenable club, keeping this club as a safe and secure place for children, but also to drive the club forward having closer ties with the parents and helping our amazing volunteers.
In my 12 continuous years at the club, we have had many teams, including numerous girls and ladies’ sides and its disappointing that we don’t have any at the moment. With our lionesses capturing the hearts and soul of the nation this situation needs to addressed.
I wish to be an approachable Chairman with a presence at the club at all levels, someone who works with the teams, players, coaches and parents and all volunteers willing to listen, hear and understand the concerns of all but just as important to be open to fresh and new ideas to enhance Broadstone’s reputation and foundation of football for all.
We have a great club with many amazing people devoting their own time to coaching your kids, however we can always use more help. If you have a few hours spare and fancy giving something back which is extremely rewarding then please contact me, perhaps spend a couple of hours on a Saturday morning helping in our tea bar, maybe assist a coach with training or offer help with the coaches’ admin, perhaps you have a skill set that our club can use on the committee or in another role, either regularly or sporadically.
I look forward to supporting you all.
